Nightlife

The city offers a vibrant nightlife and retains the leisure-orientated vitality of a young city, while oceanside Fremantle resonates with a largely European charm. Using the free CAT bus from the hotels front door and visit Northbridge, with all it's nightclubs, bars, restaurants and an open air multicultural food court. During the day Northbridge is the multicultural hub of Perth but at night it is home to a variety of nightclubs, pubs and restarants. Northbridge becomes increasingly energised as the week draws to a close. Visit the Brass Monkey (on the corner of james and Aberdeen Streets) for its vibrant atmosphere, or DC's for a club that's guarenteed to be open very late. The free weekly music and gig guide, X-press Magazine, has listings for all the venues.

Fremantle is the melting pot of nationalities and this is reflected in the city's old world, European feel and the diversity of its restaurants and pubs. On the corner of South Terrace and Norfolk Street, the beautifully restored Norfolk Hotel has a courtyard area well known for its laid-back Sunday sessions. Just a minutes walk from the Norfolk, and within the Fremantle Markets (open late Friday nights), there is a little bar which overlooks the main market hall and is open the same hours. Worth a visit because of its old-world feel and lively buskers, the bar offers café-style meals and local beers. Opposite the markets is the Sail and Anchor. It brews its own English-style ales on the premises. Dogbolter and Brass Monkey stout are just two of the drinkables on tap. They also serve woodfired pizzas in its pleasant beer garden.
