Perth is home to some of the best wineries in Australia, most of which are situated in The Swan Valley - a 20 minute trip from the city. Two of the states largest wineries can be found here, along with a large number of small, family owned and operated establishments. As well as wine, there are also a number of superb restaurants such as the Chapel Farm Restaurant Gallery and the award winning Dear Friends Restaurant. Some recommended wineries are:

Houghton Wines - Home of the famous White Burgandy, Houghton's is one of the more well known wineries in the Swan Valley.

Lamont Winery, Restaurant and Gallery - Combining fine wine, an a la carte restaurant and a gallery showcasing some of Western Australia's more interesting artworks.

Lilac Hill Estate - One of Western Australia's oldest wineries, Lilac Hill prides itself on its premium quality wines, including dry and fruity whites, and dry table reds.

Sandalford Wines - Travel by boat for lunch and tastings at Sandalford wines. Visit the Emporium Gift Shop or stroll through the beautiful grounds.

A trip to the Swan Valley would not be complete without visitng some of the magnificent galleries or the Swan Valley Cheese Company.

 

Perth Zoo From Sullivans Hotel, stroll down to Barrack Street Jetty, and catch the ferry across to the Perth Zoological Gardens. Open every day of the year, the zoo is a wonderful place to view native Australian animals, endangered species and flora and fauna fromt the far corners of the globe. Take a picnic lunch, or stop off the cafeteria for refreshments. Wheelchair, video camera and stroller hire are all available.

Burswood International Resort Casino - A ten minute taxi ride from Sullivans, Burswood is the place to go for a game of blackjack, keno or the legendary Australian game of two-up. Housing several restaurants and cocktail bars, it is great way to spend an evening with friends.

Omni Theatre - This movie screen is ten times larger than your average cinema screen. Housed in a giant dome, as tall as a two story building and surrounded by a 12000watt, 32 speaker system, Omni is an experience you won't soon forget.

Scitech Discovery Centre - A unique interactive science and technology centre, Scitech has over 160 hands on exhibits to explore. Try riding in a Mega-Morphin Heli-Sub simulator, or watch your image being reflected over 1000 times. Not just for children, Scitech is a fantastic and informative place to spend the day.

St Mary's Catherdral, Victoria Square - The Roman Catholic cathedral of St Mary's stands on the high ground set aside on the first town plan of Perth as the Church Square. The western part of the cathedral was commenced in 1863. The eastern extension was built between 1926 and 1930.

Queens Gardens, coner hay and Plain Streets. Tucked away to the east of the city is a serene English-style park, complete with a replica of the famous Peter Pan statue which graces Londons's Kensington Gardens. This leafy oasis features a tranquil water garden created from what were originally clay pits.

The South West corner of Western Australia is an area of natural grandeur, with rugged coast line, majestic native forests, lush farm lands and vineyards. Margaret River offers a picturesque landscape of dairy farms and wineries and is one of WA's most popular holiday destinations. The surf on the coast of the Margaret River is legendary on the world circuit. The area is renowned for excellent wines and the work of local artisans. Albany was WA's first European settlement and is one of the state's leading holiday centres.
