Sydney's nightlife is widely diverse, offering something for everyone.

The historical Rocks area near Circular Quay is home to some of Sydney's historic pubs including the Lord Nelson; a very old pub serving beer brewed on the premises, and The Hero of Waterloo which is packed out every night. The Orient is also a very popular bar, especially at weekends.

The Basement, Soup Plus and the Harbourside Brasserie are the venues to see top Australian and International Jazz and blues performers. The Marble Bar at the Hilton Hotel is a Victorian indulgence, with it's ornate bar made from Italian marble. Free jazz Fri and Sat nights.

Bridie O'Reilly's at Haymarket, Wynyard and Star City offer Irish hospitality featuring the best Irish beers including Guinness, Harp, Kilkenny and Beamish. A wide range of Australian and International beers are also on offer. The Mercantile Hotel in the Rocks is a high-spirited Irish pub where you can get Sydney's best poured Guinness. In Paddington two Irish Pubs can be found - Kitty O'Shea's and Durty Nellys.

If you want to enjoy spectacular harbour views try the Cocktail bar at the ANA Hotel down at the Rocks.

The Sydney Opera House is home base to the Australian Opera Company and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Performances range from classical to contemporary works.

Blue Room - While the Grand Pacific Blue Room is know for its restaurant, the bar has a life of its own. Friday and Saturday nights are party nights, open until 3am, while Thursday night is for groove with guest artists and DJ's appearing.

Fringe Bar, Paddington is open 7 days and nights. Comedy night on Mondays features local and interstate acts. Friday and Saturday nights are the busiest.

Home Nightclub at Cockle Bay Wharf has taken Sydney by storm. Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights and holds up to 2500 people.

Sublime Nightclub in the city is home to the people full of energy. Thursday night is BEET-Fix, a night that is committed to bringing you the music that you want to hear. Two rooms of the big beats, drum and bass from 10.30pm. Friday night is Voodoo with hard house in one room and funky house in the front room from 11pm. Saturday night has the best funky, chunky and spunky house music.

Just a short walk from the hotel is where you will find the colourful nightlife of Oxford Street. Oxford Street is packed with bright, trendy bars, pubs & clubs. All are gay & lesbian friendly.

Gas in the city is part of the new growing club culture in Sydney. Gas is slick and brand spanking new. A mixture of club, underground funk and pop.
